The Beatrice:  Sew Me Something

This apron style pattern is really a practical work dress and it has wonderful big pockets.  I chose to put some contrasting bias binding on the top of the pockets to add a lille more detail and I also to stitched the back together at the cross over to prevent it from moving about. The pattern is really simple and it has some really good finishing tips so there are no open seams anywhere and the pockets are neat. Its lovely to wear in the summer, with or without jeans.

I stumbled onto this pattern on trip to Totnes, (to a fabric shop that was listed in the Guardian as one of the top 10 fabric shops in the UK – “Stone Fabrics”) I found this pattern for the Beatrice dress displayed in another haberdashery/fabric’s shop window.  A very pleasant surprise, not only to find the pattern but also to find another fabric shop/workshop – “Social Fabric” (they had some lovely Essex linen).
